It is estimated that around 20 million Bangladeshi citizens are currently illegally living in India. Such large scale, unaccounted influx & settlement of foreign nationals into Indian territory poses a clear & present danger to India's internal security.

Already increasing number of terrorist attacks [both executed & those thwarted before execution] on India are being traced back to Bangladesh, a country now serving as a yet another launchpad by Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter Services Intelligence [ISI] to infiltrate terrorists into India, thanks to the porous and largely unfenced border between India and Bangladesh.

This near exodus of illegal Bangladeshis in to India has caused an alarming changes to demography of areas bordering Bangladesh. Native Assamese speaking Indian-citizens are rapidly to path to become minorities in their own land.

Traditional cultures, beliefs & way of life in many bordering Indian states run the risk of being trampled upon and smothered due to this infiltration of Bangladeshis, who bring along with them their own culture, beliefs & practices, quite alien & different from those of India's.

In a reaction typifying Indian politicos, these infiltrators, instead of being repatriated into the land of origin have found much needed political patronage, needed to ensure continuation of their stay in India, becoming captive vote-banks for these narrow-minded Indian politicians out to fulfill their selfish self-serving interests in complete disregard for the interests and concerns of the legitimate Indian voter.

Living on and utilizing all the resources and benefits India has to offer, these Bangladeshi citizens illegally settled in India are often used as the conduit to carry out acts of terrorism in India. Yet in spite of repeated suffering at the hands of these entities, there has been no concerted effort by India to deal with the illegal Bangladeshis in an effective manner, in consonance with India's interests.

Faced with the prospect of their lands going under the sea in the coming decades due to rising sea level and increasing number of water bodies being rendered unfit for human consumptions due to high levels of Arsenic present in them, the problem of illegal influx of Bangladeshis into India is only expected to worsen in the coming years. For India, already expected to become the most populace nation in the world by 2030, such influx of Bangladeshis, with their high rate of reproduction will only compound India's woes in the coming decades.

It is therefore imperative that all such Bangladeshis coming into India are accounted for and movement and activities kept track of, in conformance with standard practices worldwide. Honest, hard-working Bangladeshis, as most of them definitely are, should be allowed to seek genuine opportunities for employment and better life in India and engage in activities mutually beneficial to both the nations. However, them must, under no circumstances, be allowed to stay in India for indefinite period of time, without their stay coming up for review from time to time to validate the basis of their stay. Citizenship must be offered only to those individuals whose inclusion as Indian citizenry would be an asset to India, enrich India and bolster the cause of realization of India's destiny.
