On February 3rd, 2025, 15-year-old Mohammed Umar Khan walked into All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield, England, carrying a 13-centimeter serrated hunting knife. By lunchtime, his former friend Harvey Willgoose would be dead — stabbed twice in the chest in the school courtyard while classmates watched in horror.

Khan claimed he "snapped" due to bullying and a troubled home life. Prosecutors revealed his obsession with weapons — searches for "zombie offender knives," photos posing with blades and axes, all to cultivate a tough image.

The jury rejected his defense. Mrs. Justice Ellenbogen sentenced Khan to life detention with a minimum of 16 years, lifting his anonymity so the public could understand "how a child of that age can do so."

Harvey Willgoose was described as popular, energetic, and fun-loving. He had been building a summer house with his grandfather — a project that will never be finished.
