In 1978, the Raiders were losing to the Chargers in the closing seconds. Ken Stabler intentionally fumbled, his teammate intentionally slapped and kicked it further while pretending to attempt to pick it up, and a Raider finally fell on it for a touchdown. The Raiders won, and the NFL was having none of it. They quickly put in a rule to prevent these shenanigans from moving forward, and football got a little less fun.
