The intersegmental traction (rolling table) is a great way to impart passive motion into the segments of the spine. It functions as a way to gently move the joints of the spine and passively massage and stretch the tissues of the back. It also serves as a great way to show an individual how their spine absorbs force. It should be a nice fluid motion all the way up and down. Most individuals will notice at least one or more sections of their spine “won’t move” or resist the pressure from the rolling pads.
