ASEAN Summit LIVE: Leaders of ASEAN Member States Meet Their Counterpart

Leaders from the 10 ASEAN member states gathered in Laos met their counterparts at 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits. On October 9, they attended the opening ceremony of the two summits inaugurated by Lao's Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone. This biannual meeting focuses on enhancing resilience, promoting sustainable growth, and advancing technological development.

This year's theme is, ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience. This summit aims at improving infrastructure connectivity, bridging development gaps, and fostering greater economic integration. Additionally, Southeast Asian leaders will engage in discussions with a representative from Myanmar's junta on Wednesday, seeking to revitalize diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing civil conflict in the country. The rising tensions in the South China Sea will also be a key topic during the gathering.
