I spoke with Congressman Maxwell Frost on June 26, 2024 regarding his bill that he introduced to Congress called the EPIPEN Act. It would federally cap the price of epinephrine auto-injectors at $60 a twin pack.

Epinephrine auto-injectors such as EpiPen and Auvi-Q are life-saving medications that are the first-line treatment for a severe allergic reaction also known as anaphylaxis. While they only cost ~$30-35 to make, the cost can be as high as $600-$700 with high deductible insurance plans. About half of people prescribed an EpiPen will not fill their prescription if it costs more than $200. This leaves many people vulnerable to getting potentially very sick.

Congressman Maxwell Frost has a food allergy and talks about his experience with anaphylaxis in this interview and why he is passionate about getting the EPIPEN Act passed in Congress.
