Making a GPS Route Movie in Google Earth Pro (free features on desktop app)

I found that there were a lot of tricks to making a GPS route movie. SO MANY that I wanted to share my process. It took a lot of "trial and error" to edit the track and get a usable file to use in Luma Fusion or Final Cut Pro.

The resulting Google Earth movie is good for travel video to show a trip or to insert in a picture in picture window to match a driving video. My goal was to make a GPS track movie for just one part of a whole day's GPX file.

It was pointed out that is is technically "Google Earth Pro", but I only used features that were available free for me. As far as I can tell, "Google Earth Pro" is the name for Google Earth on desktop vs the mobile and web versions. You can download the app for free and there is a free use code on the download page. Hope this still works for those interested!
