Disgraced Northern Territory speaker Kezia Purick has resigned after an explosive integrity inquiry found she engaged in corrupt activities.

Ms Purick – who is accused of interfering in the formation of a new political party – disputed the damning findings of the ICAC Commission investigation.

Ms Purick maintained she was not aware of any action taken by her staff, however the report found she was aware that her executive assistant Martine Smith contacted a Queensland businessman who had previously registered a party as North Australia Party and urged him to object to Mr Mills plan.

The ICAC Commission related to a 2018 story which alleged Ms Purick’s office took efforts to prevent the formation of a new political party – to be named the North Australia Party - by Former Chief Minister Terry Mills.
