Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.
Kurmanji Kurdish, the northernmost dialect of the Kurdish language, is widely spoken by Kurds in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Armenia, with an estimated 15-20 million speakers. It uses the Latin alphabet, distinguishing it from the Sorani dialect, which often uses Arabic script. Kurmanji is integral to Kurdish identity and culture, preserving traditional Kurdish folklore, songs, and literature. It is the primary language for many Kurdish communities, especially in Turkey, and serves as a medium for media, education, and literature in the Kurdish diaspora. Its rich vocabulary and distinct grammar make it an important linguistic representation of Kurdish heritage.
Tajik is a modern variety of the Persian language spoken primarily in Tajikistan, as well as in parts of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Russia. It belongs to the Indo-European language family, specifically the Indo-Iranian branch. Unlike Persian spoken in Iran and Afghanistan, Tajik is written in the Cyrillic script due to historical Soviet influence, though it shares much of its vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation with these dialects. The language has also absorbed a number of Russian loanwords over the past century. Tajik is the official language of Tajikistan and serves as an important marker of national identity for the Tajik people, who are ethnically and culturally tied to the broader Persian-speaking world.
