Abstract:

ASP.NET core has opened whole new worlds of deployment options for ASP.NET developers. No longer do you have to run on IIS or Windows. I'll demonstrate multiple ways to deploy your ASP.NET applications: from deploying to a single Windows VM, to deploying to an automatically-scaling cloud of Linux Docker instances behind a load balancer, to something in between. SQL Server is great at what it does, but comes with a high price tag, and is sometimes not quite what you need. I'll demonstrate other storage and infrastructure solutions that will save you money and time. Finally, modern vision, speech, and text analysis APIs let you add features that would have been previous thought impossible or impractical. I'll demonstrate how to use them too.

Speaker Bio:

Jeffrey joined Google in 2003, and spent 6 years working on client-side software like Google Drive and Google Cloud Accelerator. For the next 6 years he worked in Google's search stack, designing and building systems to optimize search queries, RPC scheduling, and experiments. 2 years ago Jeffrey came back to the Windows world and has been learning and teaching users how to enhance .NET applications with Google Cloud Platform.
