Thoughts:
The House of the Dead 4\ザ ハウス オブ ザ デッド4 is fourth game in Sega's classic zombie light gun rail shooter. Story wise it takes place 3 years after The House of the Dead 2. James Tayler the hero of the second game returns to Europe with a recruit AMS agent Kate Green. While in Europe they go to the AMS building in Italy to do some investigating. While in the basement the room shakes. While the two await a rescue team they soon realize they are in danger as they see a familiar sight in the security cameras. They grab some spare Uzis and brace themselves while the door opens...

The House of the Dead 4 is your typical light gun shooter with a few twists. The arcade machine actually has motion controls in the gun. You use this by shaking the light gun when enemies latch on to you to make them let go in order to avoid damage. My retro arcade has this on their floor, thought the last time I was there it was out of order. You reload by shooting outside the screen and of course there are hidden powerups hidden in crates throughout levels like health ups. Difficulty wise it feels just right compared to other light gun games. The game does look very moody especially later on in the game. This is a good one. The bosses are huge, monstrous, and well animated.

The House of the Dead 4 was ported to the Sony PS3 digitally in 2012 and used the PS Move though I don't remember if it used the Guncon 3 as well. From what I remember this port if fantastic. It also has The House of the Dead 4 Special which is a ride version of the game with different levels. I'd like to have the Special version on the channel here at some point. I would highly recommend anyone play this one either by emulation, PS3 which I'm not sure if you can still get, or an arcade machine. It is a really fun game. You won't be disappointed.
