Welcome back! Yesterday in 1 Chronicles 10, we saw the tragic death of King Saul—a sobering reminder of the cost of unfaithfulness, yet also pointing us to the hope of God’s true King.
Today in 1 Chronicles 11, we witness the beginning of David’s reign. The tribes unite under God’s chosen king, Jerusalem is established as the City of David, and we see the faithfulness of the Lord in keeping His promises.
📖 Scripture Reading: 1 Chronicles 11:1–47 (ESV)
🧩 Summary Outline:
• 11:1–3 – David Anointed King at Hebron
• 11:4–9 – David Captures Jerusalem
• 11:10–25 – David’s Mighty Men
• 11:26–47 – Additional Mighty Men
❤️ Christ-Centered Application:
David, the shepherd-king, points us to Jesus, the Good Shepherd and eternal King. Just as David brought unity, Jesus unites His people. David conquered Jerusalem, but Jesus conquered sin, death, and the grave.

“And David became greater and greater, for the Lord of hosts was with him.” – 1 Chronicles 11:9

1. Why was it important that all Israel acknowledged David as king?
2. What does David’s conquest of Jerusalem teach us about God’s plans?
3. How do the mighty men inspire you in your loyalty to Christ?
4. How does Jesus fulfill and surpass David’s kingship?
