Mark Rubin was born in 1937 into a Jewish family in what was then Czechoslovakia. When the Nazis came, the family went on the run until betrayed to the Gestapo. At the age of 7, Mark was sent to the Terezin (Theresienstadt) concentration camp. Surviving the war, Rubin and his family left Czechoslovakia and came to America. In adulthood, Rubin became a leading figure in the real estate and property development of the city he would call home, Beverly Hills, California. With his professional success, Rubin and his wife Pam became leading philanthropists, including serving as donors to The National WWII Museum, where Mark served on the board until his passing in February 2021.
