REFECTION & INTERPRETATION
According to Philippians 2:8, “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” His crucifixion was marked by obedience, humility, and suffering enduring beatings, insults, false accusations, and mockery. Isaiah 53:12 prophesied, “He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Jesus was crucified for your sins, to deliver you from the present evil age (Galatians 1:4), and to reconcile all things to Himself through the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20). He died, was buried, and rose again for your justification (Romans 4:25).
To say “you have been crucified with Christ” means that you have surrendered your life to Him as Lord and Savior. It is a spiritual reality: you died with Him at Calvary. Your old life under the law and sin is gone, and you now live a new life in Christ. Romans 6:6–7 says, “Our old man was crucified with Him… that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.” Paul continues in Romans 6:8–11, “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him… consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” This crucifixion with Christ means that your flesh, with its passions and desires, has been put to death (Galatians 5:24).
It is no longer you who live, but Christ lives in you. This is the mystery of union with Christ, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Your life is no longer driven by self, but by the indwelling presence of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. The life you now live in the flesh is lived by faith not in your own strength, but in the Son of God. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is central to this new life, as Hebrews 11:6 reminds you: “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.”
Jesus Christ loved you and gave Himself for you. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). “Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:2). His love compels you to surrender deeply, yield fully, and walk in His compassion and power. Through this surrender, you are empowered to preach the gospel fearlessly, minister healing, and live victoriously as more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
Readiness for God’s glory requires that you continually crucify the flesh, yield to His Word, and live by faith in Christ.
