The recipe

SEAFOOD BOIL BROTH

In a large pot, add:
• Water
• Butter
• Old Bay
• Cajun seasoning
• Paprika (smoked if you got it)
• Onion powder
• Garlic powder
• Black pepper
• Fresh lemon (squeeze the juice in, then drop the halves)
• Smashed garlic cloves
• Bay leaves
• Sliced onion
• A pinch of sugar
• Optional: splash of apple cider vinegar or hot sauce for depth

Note: Don’t over-season it. The bottled garlic butter or Cajun butter already got seasoning in it, so if you go too heavy, it’ll be salty. You really just want the meat to have flavor—it’s not like a traditional crawfish boil. Honestly, you can even skip the seasonings and just use broth and water. It all depends on your taste buds and how much flavor you can handle.

COOKING ORDER + TIMING

STEP 1 – NECK BONES
Add neck bones to the seasoned boiling broth.
Boil 45–60 minutes, covered, until tender.

STEP 2 – POTATOES
Add baby potatoes.
Boil 10–12 minutes.

STEP 3 – CORN
Add corn halves or mini cobs.
Boil 8–10 minutes.

STEP 4 – CRAB LEGS + LOBSTER
Add crab leg clusters and lobster tails (cut down the back for flavor).
Boil 7–8 minutes.

STEP 5 – SHRIMP (LAST)
Add shrimp (shell-on or peeled).
Boil 2–3 minutes until pink and curled, then turn off the heat.

SOAK TIME

Let everything soak in the hot broth for 10–15 minutes with the lid on to lock in that flavor.

Now for the science behind it…

This part is called flavor migration. Even after you cut the heat, the seasoning keeps moving deeper into the food. That soak time is where the magic happens—especially in the shrimp and potatoes. That’s why leftovers always taste better the next day. The flavors had time to marinate and settle in their spirit.

FINAL REVIEW

The seafood butter in the bottle doesn’t taste exactly like the one from the restaurant. These came from Fiery Crab. To me? It tasted old. Like… it tasted like it had been sitting on a shelf just waiting for somebody to buy it—and I was the one who finally bought it.

And the bottle was excited to come home with me until it realized what it was going to be used for… and that’s when he decided to show his ass and taste like ass.

You can tell it had potential—it had flavor—but it just had that old closet-like taste to it. Personally, I wouldn’t buy it again. I’ll eat at the restaurant, but I would not buy these bottled butters again.
