"Koalas Are Dumb" is the eleventh vinyl pressed by the record label Weird Vintage Jukebox in 1943. Franklin came to the record label's office and said he wrote a mean song about koalas that he wanted to record. Since the label was desperate for cash, it let him in the studio.

"Koalas are like blonde women among animals," said Franklin Dingus in an interview.

Song received positive reviews.
