Safer For All: Full Documentary

In October 2023, the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights convened a group of Edmontonians on an interactive bus tour guided by the question: "How can we improve police accountability in Alberta?"

The participants were joined by former police officers, professors, lawyers, advocates, and activists. They heard from family members with lived experience of police violence.

The problems highlighted by the speakers will not get better without sustained, organized public pressure.

We must minimize the opportunity for police violence by ensuring other non-law enforcement supports are available to respond to calls, such as mental health or crisis diversion teams.

Investing in community prevention and response saves lives, is more dignified, builds community, and is cost-effective.
