How to give Outlook access to your Gmail account when 2 step verification is enabled.

After you enable 2 step verification in Gmail, Outlook will start asking for you to enter the password for your account. If you enter the same password you use to access Gmail via the web, it will not work. You need to create an app password that is specifically used for Outlook.
Here is how to do that!

Steps
1. Log into your Gmail account. If you haven't chosen to remember this computer, you'll need to enter the code Google sends to your phone.
2. Click the icon in the upper right corner, then My Account.
3. On the My Account page, click Sign-in & security.
4. On the page that opens, scroll down and select App passwords.
5. You will need to enter your password again and perhaps verify the account.
6. Now, select Mail from the drop down. Then select Mac from the second drop down and click the Generate button.
This will pop up a new window with a randomly generated password for use by Outlook on your Mac.

If you want to access your Gmail from your iPad or iPhone, you will need to do the same procedure, only selecting iPad or iPhone from the Device dropdown.
