This method of preserving is one that lots of people do not think is possible or maybe they simply haven't thought about it but recanning can save you money and help you fill you pantry with shelf stable food. Make sure the food you are recanning is a high acid food and if you are in doubt always check a reputable canning book for advice.

Follow these simple steps.

1. Buy the best product you can afford.
2. Make sure its something that your family likes
3. When in doubt about timing for your water bath canner rely on the times given in a good canning book.
4. Follow the rules for hot packing. Hot ingredients, hot jars, hot water in the canner.
5. One inch head space, wipe the rims, add rings to finger tip tight.
6. Place the jars in the canner and bring to a boil. Boil for the time recommended by your canning recipe.
7. Shut the stove off once the time is up and remove the lid. Leave the lid off for 5 minutes before removing the jars.
8. Put the jars on a towel allow them to cool for 24 hours.
9. Label and date your jars.
