A suspect in Jasper County is accused of using ketchup to simulate blood, tricking his girlfriend into calling for help and staging the bogus scene as part of a social media video, according to Sheriff Chuck Havard.

The investigation began at about 11 a.m. Sunday, September 7 when Deputy Matt Harrell responded to a call in Evadale about a man, later identified as Dorian Harris, 37, of Evadale, who had stabbed himself in the arm and was bleeding. The caller, his girlfriend, ran out of the house to a neighbor’s residence and called 911 to get him assistance, because she believed he had injured himself, said Havard.
