Turi SIMETI 圖里．斯梅蒂

Turi Simeti was born in Alcamo, Trapani, in 1929. Simeti’s initial artworks were influenced by Alberto Burri, the figure of 'Arte Povera,' whose studio he frequented with great interest during early 1960s. Simeti also became member of ‘Zero Group’ during that period and he began to create artworks dealing with raw materials. Simeti’s participation in the exhibition “Zero Avantgarde,” held in 1965 at Lucio Fontana’s Studio in Milan, plays a crucial role in his career. The recurring oval shape is the signature thematic element in Simeti's creations, inspired by avant-garde predecessors.

圖里．斯梅蒂於1929年出生於特拉帕尼省阿爾卡莫鎮。斯梅蒂早期與貧窮藝術 (Arte Povera) 先鋒的阿爾貝托·布里 (Alberto Burri) 密切往來，並成為「零社」(Zero Group) 藝術運動成員，斯梅蒂亦曾參與空間主義大師盧齊歐·封塔納 (Lucio Fontana) 於1965年在米蘭工作室歷史性的《零前衛》(Zero Avantgarde) 展覽。斯梅蒂的藝術語言使用單色及單一形狀浮雕構成，圍繞在一個幾何形狀–橢圓，這也成為他藝術作品的代表形象。繪畫行為在斯梅蒂的心中是將絕對靜止的單一色彩之堆疊，與物體物質性的感官體驗相遇：這相遇不僅是直覺的、概念上的接觸，亦為繪畫表層之律動的體驗。經由在表層凹凸中勾勒出一切構造與背後能量運作的一切複雜結構，賦予畫布鮮活而具外向性的張力。其風格無以名狀，卻又鮮明，其作品辨識度極高，進而確立了這樣極簡元素組合之變化型態。
