Yuzawa City in Akita Prefecture holds theTanabata Picture Lantern Festivall for three days from August 5 to 7 every year.
It is a traditional festival with a history of about 300 years since the Edo era, and the dozens of picture candles of various sizes that light up all at once in the evening are a sight to behold.
