Without the need for a thrust-wall, pipe ramming is the ideal solution to install steel sleeve pipes and casing ducts through embankments or loose ground. Although non-steered, the method has predictable characteristics, making it extremely versatile.

Allen Watson owns and operates a wide range of pipe rammers and has installed pipes up to 130 metres in length.

Advantages
No requirement for jacking points or thrust-wall
Can operate from a pit or above ground level
Dry method of installation - does not generate slurry
Trenchless installations over distances up to 130 metres possible
Ideal for working on embankments or in changeable ground conditions
After casing is driven, pipes can be used for a variety of requirements
No disruption to surface, buildings, road, river, rail or traffic
By boring underground the working area is confined to points of entry and exit only
Pipe ramming is fast and in many cases has lower overall costs

Typical Applications
Steel pipes from 150mmØ up to 1600mmØ for drainage culverts or as sacrificial casings to accommodate multiple services such as pressure pipelines and cable ducts.
Distances from 5 metres up to 130 metres have been successfully installed under railways, roads, rivers, airports, buildings, contaminated landfill sites and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Crossings can be for water, oil, gas, electricity, sewerage, chemicals, communication ducts and outfalls.
