It had to be rescued from the trash bin by his wife, who after reading the initial few pages its auther penned, encouraged him to continue working on the project as she believed the story had to be told.

Carrie was Stephen Kings debut novel. It captured the publics imagination while enabling its author to commit himself to full time writing due to its success.
