When I play jazz lines, many students ask me "what SCALE is that?"

And I say "It's not a scale or a mode!"

Scales and modes are NOT the solution for soloing on fast chord changes, this is a HUGE misunderstanding.

The solution is to be aware of HARMONIC TONES (chord tones) and NON-HARMONIC TONES (notes outside the chord.)
