Описание к видео Living with Hydrocephalus: Emma's story

Because of an intraventricular hemorrhage in utero, Emma Richards was born with hydrocephalus: an excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. The condition causes harmful pressure on the tissues of the brain, which can result in a variety of impairments in brain function.
Emma's parents, Jennifer and Bill Richards of Litchfield Park talk about the symptoms Emma showed when she was just twelve days old that led to her diagnosis. Pediatric neurosurgeon S. David Moss, M.D., Emma's doctor, explains hydrocephalus, how it is treated, and talks about Emma and her prognosis.
