Another beautiful town in the highlands of the western Saudi Arabia – al Namas – in a spectacular setting high on the mountain plateau with sheer droppoffs and super winding mountain roads descending and ascending to the west.
The town itself has a pretty fortress and several mosques, but the real attraction here is the Al Meger Tourist Village – a traditional mountain village on the outskirts of the town with insane panoramic views. It’s still mostly under construction,
but the restored traditional architecture is stunning and very colorful, almost Taj Mahal-like. Further south, there a some gray views back onto the town, with plenty of baboons to share it with.

It is distinguished by its impressive Islamic architecture and has developed a reputation as one of the most important tourist destinations in the Kingdom.

This elevated village, reaching 2,400 meters above sea level, rewards travelers who brave the fog and clouds with an unforgettable experience.

Al Meger Tourist Village sits atop the Sarawat Mountains, a must-visit on your Asir region journey. Stepping into the village, you'll encounter the architectural masterpiece known as Al-Meger Palace, also referred to as the Al-Falaki "space" Palace. This historical gem showcases splendid Islamic design, captivating architecture enthusiasts and tourists alike. Revered as a premier tourist destination in the Kingdom, it draws global visitors to bask in its unique charm and grandeur. Constructed from local Asir mountain stone, the palace integrates hanging gardens with precisely flowing geometric water fountains. Islamic influences shine through Andalusian motifs, Arabic and Kishani inscriptions gracing the walls. Remarkably, more than 360 windows invite sunlight from every angle, tracing solar motion. Ascending the palace's floors reveals a treasure trove of over 18,000 heritage pieces from diverse Islamic civilizations, including Andalusia and Abbasid eras. On the third floor, historical Islamic manuscripts spanning medicine, astronomy, mathematics, Arabic language, and Islamic thought enrich the visitor's understanding, particularly of the Holy Qur’an.
