Various shots of the London Fire Brigade's control room: telephonists, plotters, radio operators and fire chiefs are seen at work, handling incoming calls and despatching units. Many of the workers are women. In natural sound we hear a female telephonist passing on message about incendiary bombing raid. Also in natural sound we hear a man giving instructions to a female map plotter.



Various shots of firemen sliding down pole and climbing into their vehicles and driving away. M/S of the fire engines leaving the station at Lambeth, pan with them as they turn along the Embankment towards Lambeth Palace, which can be seen in the distance.
