This is the actual snare drum that came with my drum set. It is a birch shell with a 10 lug set up. 5 1/2 by 14 is the size. Sounds pretty good! A good head upgrade is a must. I used Remo Ambassador batter and snare side. It gets a good sound when the snare side is cranked up fairly tight. The batter head is about three steps up from the resonant head. I have the snares fairly loose. It does pretty well. But you can get a decent sound no question with the 10 lugs it has.
