Richard Ireland, the mayor of Jasper, says a recent report on the 2024 Jasper wildfire was never meant to be interpreted as assigning blame to anyone for anything that happened during the wildfire. He clarified there is an "observation" partway through the report stating "the involvement of the province made the matter more complex," but that it was a "neutral statement, not a political statement." The town issued a statement Monday thanking the province for its aid during the emergency.
