Which is best sorghum variety for fodder and seed purpose || Crop Reformer

Sorghum (Sorghum vulgare) is an important dual crop of Pakistan grown as fodder as well as grain purpose. In this video, we have advised the farmers about the appropriate sowing time and better hybrid variety for sorghum crop. Maize and Millet Research Institute (MMRI) Yousofwala Sahiwal has developed a high yielding sorghum hybrid known as Fakhr e Punjabفخر پنجاب. Another variety known as Super Lasaniسپر لاثانی marketed by Hope seed company has performed during previous years. Super lasani faces more attack of shoot borer than Fakhr e Punjab.
As regards sowing time, both are suggested to be planted after mid of July. June or early sowing may face severe damage due to heat wave likely to be during the mid of September at the booting and earing stage of sorghum. Late sown sorghum especially at the end of July is considered as more safe for hybrid sorghum cultivation.
Production technologies of crops are changing on a fast pace with the changing climate and weather conditions. Temperature is rising with the passage of time. We can not cultivate crops according to old conventional timelines and fertilizer plans. There is a need to modernize the production technologies.
