Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey says the state government is now “baking in wage cuts” to the essential services and essential services workers.

NSW public and private sector union members are to protest against the government’s wage policy outside state parliament today.

“Because the government is not keeping up with the rate of inflation, we are now seeing health workers, teachers, public sector workers in key areas leaving New South Wales to find other states where they get better pay and they can actually walk to work and afford a house,” Mr Morey told Sky News Australia.

Mr Morey said the Fair Work Commission’s decision to raise the minimum wage by 5.2 per cent is “up there with inflation,” but what the NSW government is offering is a three per cent rise.
