Custom Tailgate Storage on my 2008 GMC Sierra

Описание к видео Custom Tailgate Storage on my 2008 GMC Sierra

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. I cut into the tailgate because I wanted to make a storage compartment but there wasn't any videos or information I could find about it so I did this to help anyone else trying to do the same thing with this type of truck.

- On side A, I have the hinge on the inside but sadly the door panel does not open all the way. It only opens at about a 45 degree angle.
- On side B, the hinge is on the outside and it opens all the way.
At Harbor Freight, I paid for:
- Angle Grinder 4-1/2in : around $18.49 (just got a cheap one, first time using this)
- Hand Riveter Set: $4.99 (just got a cheap one, first time using this)
- Nonslip mats: $5.59 (goes inside the tailgate)
- Super Glue 3 pack: $1.69 (glued the mats to the tailgate)
At Home Depot, I paid for:
- Mailbox Key locks: $6.57 each (used to lock door panels, it has a low profile)
- Bar Flat Aluminum 36inX1inX1/8in: $7.18 (holds the door panels up)
- 12 inch hinge: around $7 (cut in half and used it on both sides)
- 6 Piece File Set: $9.96 (file down edges that were cut)

So whichever you like more, go with that. I hope this was helpful and gave you some ideas. I just wanted to inform others about what's in the tailgate and how to work around it because I couldn’t find information about it. Good luck and thanks for watching!
