Windmill Museum in Alkmaar (Schermerhorn) - inside and out of a typical Dutch Windmill - Holland

This is part of our summer 2024 Europe Trip. Our trip began in the Netherlands, followed by Germany and Czech Republic, then Germany again, and the back to the Netherlands.

This video was taken at the Museum Mill (Museum Molen) in Schermerhorn, just a 10 minute drive east of Alkmaar. If you are planning on visiting the cheesemarket in Alkmaar, I highly recommend adding this museum to your itinerary. Admission is only €6 per person and it is free is you have an annual museum pas (museum jaarkaart). You'll get to see 3 windmills from the outside as well as one from the inside. This mill is still functional, although the water is now pumped in circles for demonstration purposes. The actual dewatering of the adjacent polder is done by electric pumps nowadays.

I highly recommend this museum as it is a much more laid-back place to view a windmill, especially compared to places like Kinderdijk.
