Pet Cemetery - Sac Actun Cenote - Snorkeling, Caving, and Fun - Best Cenote near Tulum and in Mexico

On a recent trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, we went on a family adventure to Sac Actun Cenote. We chose this cenote because it sounded like a great adventure for our entire family including the little kids.

It did not disappoint!

We hired a guide so we could go back into the cave system. The guide costs $35. While his English wasn't the best, we got by just fine with our limited Spanish. The $35 gets you a wetsuit, lifejacket, mask, and snorkel.

This cenote is often not crowded because you have to drive about an hour out of Tulum and then down a big dirt road. Most people don't even know Sac Actun exists because it's back behind a few other popular cenotes and you have to ask to pass through a closed gate to get there.

After we donned our gear, we climbed down the ladder to the water. We jumped in and although it initially felt a bit chilly, we adjusted pretty quickly.

The cave was incredible. We saw bats and fish and swam in the crystal clear water. We all had a great time and would go back anytime.

There's a ton of adventure skills, knowledge, stoke, gear, and more to be had there. Also, leave a comment if you've been to Cenote Sac Actun or if you have other cenotes you think are better.
