The inaugural NASCAR Grand National race at Michigan International Speedway took place on June 15, 1969 during the running of the 1969 Motor State 500. Cale Yarborough's Mercury managed to hold off David Pearson, Richard Petty, and LeeRoy Yarbrough for the win. Highlights of the race were featured on Car & Track, hosted by Bud Lindemann.
