India’s homegrown digital payment platform, the Unified Payments Interface, or UPI – has transformed the way we transact. What began as a domestic fintech revolution has now become a passport for seamless payments across borders. The latest country to join this growing network is Qatar, where UPI is now accepted at merchant terminals through a tie-up between NPCI International Payments Limited and Qatar National Bank. For Indian travellers – the second-largest group of visitors to Qatar – this means familiar, hassle-free transactions and fewer worries about carrying cash. With eight countries already on board, UPI’s global footprint is expanding rapidly.
