Today's standard pitch is A=440, though this hasn't always been true. It's commonly accepted that A=415 was used in the Baroque era, a half step below where we are now.

In truth, it wasn't until the 20th century that A=440 became standard practice for everyone. As traveling as a performer became more feasible, the need arose for everyone to essentially agree.

Did you know that's some orchestras still choose to tune slightly above or below 440 in order to give a special distinction to their sound? May orchestras in Europe choose to tune sharp because of the added drive it provides the music. You'll notice how my tempo is faster in the 444 version, too, because I feel the energy of the pitch demanding it!
