The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India is the nodal agency for hosting the second United Nations - World Geospatial Information Congress (UN-WGIC) organised by the United Nations. The United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM) residing under the Statistics Division of United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) organises the once every four years bringing together member states of the UN-GGIM, experts in the field of Geospatial Technologies and its various application domains, commercial geospatial sector, academia and researchers and practitioners from across the globe.

The second UNWGIC will bring together the stakeholders at the highest level from India and around the world. Year 2022 is an important year to host the event as a part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Aptly the core theme of the second UNWGIC has been decided as “Geo-enabling the Global Village”. KSCST is a member of the National Organizing Committee for organising the Second United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UN-WGIC).

As part of this event, a series of online virtual pre-events are planned across India to collect and collate innovations in the field of Geospatial Technologies to highlight the vibrant Indian Geospatial Ecosystem during the UN-WGIC. The pre-event in Bangalore is scheduled to be held on 21st and 22nd April, 2022.
