Starting the Optimus 8R backpacking stove

I love the Optimus backpacking stove I picked up in the mid-late 1980's, but unfortunately nobody (as near as I can tell) has made anything like this in decades. It runs on white gas (aka Coleman fuel) and is nearly indestructible. I posted this tutorial on priming & starting it for a friend who plans to borrow it.


EDIT July 2021: A number of people have pointed out that using the pump to prime it is uneccessary, and that my stove is exhibiting evidence of some age-related wear that needs to be addressed. In retrospect, this may not be a good tutorial on the use of these things - but YouTube doesn't seem to allow for removal of videos, so it will remain.
