U20 Talks is a series of dialogues with urban sector experts on various urban development challenges faced by cities worldwide. U20 Samvaad, a podcast series under U20 Talks, are conversations with selected professionals and experts on different themes. The theme for March 2023 is "Catalysing Digital Urban Futures." In this episode of U20 Samvaad, we explored the subject of Digital Urban Governance with Vikas Kanungo, Senior Consultant, Global Digital Development Practise, World Bank.

In this episode, we explored how the digitisation of urban governance will support municipalities in the future. We began by analysing what digital urban governance is and the major challenges in achieving it. We further examined how national-level frameworks are being developed to facilitate digitisation at the state and the city levels and the rise of cyber-physical infrastructure in the future. Mr Kanungo stressed on the use of design thinking processes and technology, like verbal commands in local languages, to lower the entry barriers for the citizens. At last, we explored the topic of open data & industry 4.0 in municipalities, and the skill sets required in the future in this sector.
