Ok here’s the thing. I know what it’s like to be undervalued. I spent years not valuing my own services and time highly enough, and it cost me.

So, I want to help anyone building a media agency get themselves off the ground, while being compensated fairly.

I’ve found that videography and content creation is often extremely undervalued and under-appreciated.

This is crazy, because your video marketing is one of the first touch points you’ll have with your clients. Businesses shouldn’t be skimping on their video production, and this is especially true for online businesses.

And yet, it is often extremely difficult for people trying to figure out how to build a video production agency.

As the owner of a digital marketing agency, I understand the incredible value that content creators have, and have helped several find success using the following simple strategy:

Recognize that to be known globally, you have to start locally.

Get your first client by offering your services for free. This sounds insane, but hear me out. Offer your services in return for a video testimonial. When you’ve completed the project for them, give them a social media strategy they can use to implement the content you’ve created. This is important because it will help them appreciate your value. Make an offer for a certain amount per month, where you will come in and manage those strategies for them, as well as create new content. Ideally, they take you up on it and all of a sudden you have recurring income.

If they don’t accept the offer, you still have a solid testimonial that you can use in Step 2...


Get a video testimonial from them. Post their testimonial on your social media, Linkedin, and your website. Ask people to tag anyone they think could benefit from your services, and tell them you’re looking to give a percentage discount to a few local businesses.


Once you have a paying client, it’s time for digital advertising. Facebook advertising will let you filter by location, so use the profits from this single client to pay for your ads to find the second one. Push those leads to your website where they can give you their name, phone number, and email address.


Reach out to any and all leads that you can. Push hard to get them on calls. The more calls you take, the more money you’ll make.

This is the exact process I used to get started in direct response marketing, and it works for ANY kind of agency!
