Miata Interior Restomod - Vintage Racing Bucket Seats

My stock seats have seen better days. I reupholstered them in the past but they have some rust and are pretty heavy. Time for something new! This process will apply to how you can install custom seats into any car. I go through measurements, bracket fabrication and installation.


I'm going with a set of vintage buckets with headrest with a sort of 60's Ford GT40 look to them. They are from eBay but seem to be quite well made and sturdy. About 7 pounds lighter per seat than stock, no recline but with adjustable headrest.



Make sure to use appropriate materials! I use grade 10.9 stainless hardware (which is the metric equivalent of US Grade 8, just with no zinc coating) and 3/16 steel flat stock.
