I can only say how I have benefited from this drink, although I can’t confirm all the health benefits but there are many articles that state the amazing health benefits of ginger and lemon drinks, but my recipe includes a few more ingredients that give the shots a boost:

The batch I prepared this time was intended for my family, as we were all recuperating from various strains of flu. You can make this recipe for a single person to consume over 8 days as a daily shot or as a warm beverage in the morning. While you can enjoy it at any time of the day, the most beneficial time for a detox is in the early morning, at least 30 minutes before having breakfast.

Grate 200g of Ginger root into 1litre ml of water, add a small piece of cinnamon stick, one heap teaspoon full fennel seeds, one small piece of grated turmeric root or quarter tea spoon turmeric powder, pinch of black coarse pepper and pinch of cayenne pepper.

Bring to the Boil and then leave to stand for 45mins to an hour for the ingredients to infuse. Then add the Juice of 4 lemons and run the mixture through a sieve to remove the grated ginger, fennel seeds and cinnamon stick.

Pour the mixture into a glass jug or container and refrigerate once cool. Drink the ginger and lemon shot in one go or add hot water to make a tea....Enjoy!!!!
