Due to the cessation of upstream mountain floods and minimal rainfall, the water levels in the main rivers of Netrokona have started to recede slowly from Sunday.

However, the water of the Uddakhali River is still flowing 29cm above the danger level at the Kalmakanda point in the district. Earlier, continuous rainfall over the past few days and mountain floods from upstream had flooded hundreds of villages in the low-lying areas of Durgapur, Kalmakanda, Purbadhala, and Barhatta upazilas. Homes, roads, and educational institutions in these areas were submerged.

Flooding worsens in Mymensingh as another 50 villages are inundated
Heavy rain and mountain runoff has worsened flooding in the Haluaghat, Dhobaura and Phulpur Upazilas in Mymensingh.

At least 50 more villages have been inundated by the water, leaving nearly 150,000 people from the 23 unions in three Upazilas stranded.
The primary and secondary schools of the three Upazilas have been declared as shelters, said Sanowar Hossain, the district relief and disaster rehabilitation officer said on Monday afternoon. Some 2,000 people, including women and children, have sought refuge in these shelters.
