Want an open feel to your home but still prefer defined spaces? Here’s my solution.

Open concept sounds like good idea but knocking out all your interior walls can make the space feel busy and overwhelming.

We’d like to see a return to old school room partitioning but with the open concept twist. For instance, typical dining rooms we renovate have 3 foot openings but this house will have a 7 foot arch.

This home was built in 1940 and originally had archways throughout. It felt like a win-win to bring them back to them home: paying homage to the original architecture AND give the home more defined spaces.

When we have more defined spaces, it feels like every space can have a bit more of its own identity. This triple arch opening separating the kitchen from the great room and dining was the perfect solution for the space.

It was not easy to engineer or implement but it was so worth it.
