The LPKF PrecisionWeld is ideal for prototype or small batch production, but it can also be automatically loaded for mass production purposes.

The PrecisionWeld has a laser guide system and a positioning table. The working area is 320 mm x 320 mm. To compensate tolerances an integrated camera system detects fiducial marks or uses the geometric elements of the device itself.

It joins parts using transmission laser welding technology as well as the LPKF Clear-Joining technology. In transmission laser welding, the two parts to be joined have different absorption properties, e.g. a laser-absorbing basal unit has a clear cover plate. The laser beam passes through the upper laser-transparent layer but is absorbed when it hits the lower part, so that the energy is converted to heat and melts the plastic. Using ClearJoining technology With a laser wavelength of 1,940 nm, two transparent polymers components can be joined.

The PrecisionWeld identifies the surface of components and automatically adjusts the focus. The system is compact and needs only a power supply and compressed air for operation.
