Three people, three completely different stories: In Laos, Mr. Buntha is bitten by a poisonous snake and falls into a coma. Little Imona in Uzbekistan suffers from a malposition of the leg. And in Ethiopia Mrs. Hassen is told that she has a tumor in her uterus. Three patients who have recovered completely, thanks to the medical cooperation of the Hospital Partners.

The funding programme Hospital Partnerships was initiated in 2016 by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation. It supports stakeholders from the medical and health sector in building and implementing partnerships with medical institutions in low- and middle-income countries. The Hospital Partners’ focus lies on education and training. All medical fields are represented. The programme has established itself as an important German contribution in the field of global health. Twice a year the hospital partnerships publish a new round of funding with a sum of up to 50.000 euros. Subsequent funding is also possible.

The implementation is carried out by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
