My suggestions for smart and innovative solutions when working in hospitals, nursing homes or home care are many. This video - no. 1 - shows how I put on jeans when a person needs a helping hand. This solution is made for two carers. I use a soft spinnaker cloth to reduce friction and to make it comfortable to the patients - and easy for the carers.
This videotape was recorded at one of my seminars in Denmark, January 2011.
Notice the spontaneous clapping of hands when the participants see the smooth and easy solution I show them.
In video no, 2, I show how we easily may slide a sling for the hoist underneath the patient lying in the bed. I use two pieces of spinnaker cloth - and we slide the sling between the two slippery layers. Easy! My friend, nurse Anita Rush in GB use this technique when she works with bariatric residents.
Video no. 3 shows how I use a small liftseat called standUP. It makes it very easy to help a person from the floor or the ground back to her feet without any hazardous manual lifting involved.
