The game takes place in a world called Sylvarant and follows Lloyd Irving. He accompanies his childhood friends, Colette Brunel, and Genis Sage who are destined to go on a journeyy to save their world. As they progess in their goal the meet a ninja named Sheena Fuijbayashi that tells them that saving Sylvarant endangers her world Tethe'alla, a world that parallel to their own.
